Mutta kaupunki kasvoi kunnolla vain sotien jälkeen, ja paljon nähtävyyksiä siellä ei ole. Tässä osassa vieraillaan keskustassa, Lutakossa ja Seminaarinmäellä (yliopiston alueella).
Karhunkierroksen vaellusreitin (82 km) loppuosa, Oulangan luontokeskukselta Rukan hiihtokeskukselle (54 km). Kaikki parhaat maisemat ovat juuri tällä osuudella.

Viisipäiväinen vaellukseni onnistui alkukesällä 2022; tässä yleiskuva ja osuus Hautajärveltä Oulangan luontokeskukselle (28 km).
Pikkukunta Lapissa, jossa hiljattain avattiin Suomen uusin kansallispuisto. Peräpohjolan erämaiden lisäksi vieraillaan myös Sallan kirkonkylässä, Hautajärven kylässä ja hylätyllä Sallan radalla.
The last Finnish national park that I hadn't visited — because it's the most difficult one to visit, consisting of small islands in the northernmost sea area of Finland, with barely any public tours to them. I still managed to book one and it ended up being an enjoyable trip on a real sailboat from the city of Kemi in Sea Lapland.
